Documentary

In 2008, a documentary video was produced by the Educaids Network Ethiopia in partnership with Educaids Netherlands and Deelstra & de Jong company, titled 'Tomorrow Will be Better'. The film presents stories about the lives of young people living in different regions of Ethiopia. These stories are presented in three sections, addressing themes like Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Care and Support, and Gender.

The film is primarily made for youth in the age of 12-20 years, who come together to view the documentary under guidance of a facilitator or teacher. Then, they discuss openly about the challenges they face and the necessary attitude and behaviour to avoid infection. The film is distributed together with a user's guide that helps the facilitator / teacher in introducing the documentary and starting and facilitating a fruitful group discussion.

As far, more than 500 copies and user's guides are distributed among the 15 Ethiopian Educaids partners. The estimated number of final target groups is 467 HIV/AIDS school clubs, 720 primary schools and 27,000 students.

A first opinion survey among youth confirmed that the documentary film is unique in its approach because it reflects the real world around them. In autumn 2010, Educaids will perform a mid-term review on the use and effect of the documentary.

In August 2010, the documentary was translated to the Oromo language, which will serve to reach out to the large group of young people which speak this language.
